Here I am. Learning daily. Reading. Writing. Meditating. Parenting. Traveling. Educating patients on how to navigate cardiac disease. And most importantly, I am learning how to love myself and working through the ins and outs of intimacy. One of the reasons I came to earth was to find love. My daily attempts to obtain self-love have been empowering, challenging, and to be continued.

 

Being a 40-something-year-old American woman and marrying a 30-something-year-old Indian woman was exciting and challenging on many levels. My younger brain was wired to believe that homosexuality was a disgusting sin and publicly unacceptable. I told some friends and family about my relationship before telling my children because I didn't want my dad to know. I was fighting hard for authenticity and wanting to show my children how to speak their truth, yet showing them I couldn't be authentic with my father.

 

Ultimately, I was able to overcome this fear. I told my dad, and he disowned me. We all carry our traumas and strong beliefs - the idea of me being with a woman was too much for him to bear. Now, I grieve the loss of him and celebrate the birth of me. I am a beautiful light, a goddess, a flower. I am here to grow.  

 

My two incredible children love the new addition to our family. MK brings so much love, energy, and attention to all of us. Her light is captivating and a breath of fresh air. The kids travel between two homes that are very different yet share in the commonality of our love for them.  I am thankful to be in a successful co-parenting relationship and to share children with a man who loves them.

 

This creates a safe space for MK and me to travel and create spiritual couples retreats. We are working through the in-depth and overbearing immigration process so she can have a green card. This valued ticket is her freedom to leave the country and return. I had no idea how complex the system makes it for an Indian woman to live legally in this country—the countless forms and days of collecting "proof" that we are together, along with a substantial price tag. In the meantime, we enjoy traveling to our US bucket list destinations. 

 

This blog is a space where MK and I can share how we create our spiritual couples retreats while awaiting her ticket to travel the world. We both find passion in simple moments surrounded by the beauty of nature. We are fortunate to exist here on this planet and energetic travel helps us tap into what mother earth has to offer.
