MK and I enjoy setting intentions because they are fun to create and energetically bond. An intention is a powerful and positive thought we focus on during our trip that encourages our personal growth and our connection. Intentions can change if a higher power has a different idea for us, so flexibility is important.
So, how do I set an intention?
You are free to choose what to focus on consciously. Here are a few loose guidelines to follow:
Reflection: What do you genuinely want or need? This could be a feeling, a change in behavior, or a way of interacting with the world.
Clarity: An intention should be clear and concise. It's not a detailed action plan but rather a simple statement.
Positivity: Intentions are phrased positively, focusing on what you want to bring into your life rather than what you want to avoid.
Present Tense: Express your intention in the present tense as if it were already here. This helps create a mindset that aligns with the desired outcome.
Commitment: It's not just a one-time thought but something to revisit and reflect on regularly.
Integration: Integrating your intention into your day by meditating on it, using it as a mantra, or simply reminding yourself of the intention.
Flexibility: While intentions provide direction, they also require flexibility. It is important to be open to how the journey unfolds.
Setting intentions is different from setting goals. Goals are specific, measurable, and often focused on external achievements, while intentions are more about an internal state and how you want to be in the world.
Here are some Intention Examples to get you started. The joy comes from creating a specific intention that resonates with your journey:
Deepening Emotional Intimacy: Exploring and strengthening the emotional bond allows for deeper understanding and empathy.
Enhancing Communication: To practice mindful listening and expression, creating a space where both partners feel heard and understood.
Fostering Trust and Vulnerability: To create a safe environment where both partners can be vulnerable, sharing fears, hopes, and dreams.
Cultivating Gratitude: Focus on appreciating each other and the relationship, acknowledging the positive aspects, and expressing gratitude.
Strengthening Connection: To deepen the spiritual and emotional connection, exploring the relationship beyond the surface level.
Healing and Forgiveness: To address past hurts or misunderstandings, work towards healing and forgiveness.
Aligning Visions and Goals: Discuss and align future goals and visions for the relationship, ensuring both partners move in the same direction.
Enhancing Affection and Romance: To reignite the romantic spark and increase affectionate behaviors and expressions of love.
Exploring Shared Spiritual Practices: To delve into spiritual practices together, finding common ground in beliefs or rituals that enhance spiritual growth.
Managing Stress and Conflict: To learn and practice techniques for managing stress and resolving conflicts in healthier ways.
Mindful Presence: To cultivate the habit of being fully present with each other, leaving distractions aside and focusing on the moment.
Building Resilience: To build resilience within the relationship, preparing to face challenges with strength and unity.
Exploring Creativity: To engage in creative activities, exploring new ways of expression and connection.
Nurturing Compassion and Kindness: We should practice acts of compassion and kindness toward each other, fostering a nurturing and supportive environment.
Celebrating the Journey: Acknowledge the journey together and reflect on the growth and changes experienced as a couple.
